The highly anticipated Bellator debut of one Rory "Red King" MacDonald is veering near. MacDonald will step into the cage with Paul "Semtex" Daley, Friday May 19, at the SSE Arena, Wembley in London, United Kingdom.

The Red Carpet
Fighting out of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, MacDonald has been one of the most popular fighters on the MMA scene for many years. He's competed against the biggest names in MMA and has been quite successful doing so. He's defeated guys like B.J. Penn, Nate Diaz, Demian Maia and current UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley. The Canadian superstar is also known for his historic match against Robbie Lawler, which has been voted by many media outlets as the greatest contest of all time.

After taking some time off, MacDonald has resurfaced hungrier than ever, ready to re-establish himself as one of the best Welterweights in the world. "I've been working on the core elements of my skills and I have seen a big boost up in my boxing, wrestling, ground striking and submissions." He also plans to continue to put pressure on his opponents as he later added, "My aggressive style that people are used too, you will see an improved version of that, rather than some new point-style of fighting or anything like that."

There was speculation that MacDonald's debut would be against the Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima, who's now slated to defend his title against brand new Bellator signee, Lorenz Larkin at Bellator NYC. However, this outcome does not concern MacDonald, "I've made it clear that if a title fight takes to long to make then I'll take another fight, I just need to stay busy." Additionally, on the Bellator 179 Conference Call Scott Coker mentioned the winner would be receiving a title fight.

The Welterweight division is arguably the most stacked division in Bellator. MacDonald heavily contributes to an already star-filled division with the addition of his talents and the entire Canadian fan base that follows his every move. He understands the quality and depth of the division, but that does not waiver his confidence in his ability, "I think there are a few young eager guys who would be willing to fight me and I'm excited about that. I also think some people are not going to be too happy to sign that contract when it comes to fighting me."

Red King vs Semtex
Following a spectacular flying knee KO against Brennen Ward at Bellator 170, "Semtex" took a profanity-laced approach to call out the "Red King." In a nutshell, he stated that he would deliver a KO if the two met in the cage. MacDonald immediately responded via Twitter with his own jabs, which prompted Bellator to make this fight. "To be honest. I was kind of happy someone called me out," he said. "It's been so long that someone has shown interest to fight me, so him doing that set up a great fight. I need guys to do that because it takes two to tango." MacDonald was looking forward to making the best fight possible and Daley provided a situation that was too sweet to pass up.

"He's a powerful striker and a knockout artist who likes to keep it on the feet," is how MacDonald describes Daley as a fighter. The clash between the two in all likelihood will be an explosive one. Even though MacDonald has great respect for Daley, he fully expects to put on a world class performance en route to getting his hand raised, "I'm looking for complete domination and I know that's going to happen."

The stylistic matchup between Daley and MacDonald is a fight fan's dream. Two fighters who are going to go out with the intention of violently finishing their opponent. MacDonald has a diverse striking game, coupled with creative techniques on the mat. Daley carries the nickname "Semtex" for a reason, he drops explosive strikes that can end a contest in a blink of an eye.
